Public Bank hopes to surpass 1 million mark for card business

Public Bank hopes to surpass 1 million mark for card business

Public Bank is banking on its new PB Day2Day Visa Card to push its total card numbers beyond 1 million.

Ms. Chong You Lin, General Manager of Public Bank Card Services, explained that this is made possible by the card's appeal to a broad age and income demographic as it is available to individuals aged 12 years old and above. No income documents are required for registration.

The new PB Day2Day Card functions as a Visa Debit card and ATM Card. It is directly linked to the Public Bank Savings Account maintained by the cardholder.

Mr. Stuart Tomlinson, Country Manager, Malaysia, Visa said, "The PB Day2Day Visa Debit Card works on a ‘buy now, pay now’ principle and is ideal for everyday, non-discretionary purchases normally made by cash at places such as supermarkets, restaurants and department stores. The card is linked directly to the cardholder’s savings account, meaning they can pay for purchases using their own funds. With the unsurpassed acceptance of a Visa card, cardholders can carry less cash which means less personal risk. Cardholders are assured of access to their funds through more than 30 million Visa merchants and 1.4 million ATMs. The card can also be used for purchases made over the internet or for phone orders."
