Oriental Bank of Commerce plans putting up HK office

Hong Kong opens colossal break in OBC's global expansion efforts.

OBC Executive Director S C Sinha said the bank is "in the process of seeking RBI permission for more overseas offices preferably in Hong Kong."

The bank also is exploring opportunity in Africa, where Bank of Baroda and State Bank of India are already established, he said.

According to a report in the Indian Express, OBC is discovering location for setting up its business in countries having strong potential.

The city-based bank opened a representative branch in Dubai on March 30 this year. With this, the bank got overseas presence first time after being established in Lahore in 1943, said the Executive Director.
