Fraud surveillance in today’s hybrid banking environment

As the Director of the Public Sector and Financial Services Practice, Steve Bennett is passionate about helping governments around the world put their data to work for the citizens they serve, and helping financial services firms maximize revenue and improve their customers’ experience.  In his current role, he drives strategic industry positioning and messaging in global public sector and financial services markets. A thought leader in decision science and the application of analytics, Steve works to ensure that analytics solutions at SAS deliver maximum value for the public and financial sectors around the world.

Prior to SAS, Steve held several leadership positions during his 12 years in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Following the events of September 11th, 2001,  Steve led the design and application of quantitative analysis to inform some of the United States’ most challenging security decisions, most recently as the Director of the National Biosurveillance Integration Center.  Over the course of his career in Government, he led numerous efforts to provide analytic decision support to senior officials in the White House and across the U.S. Government. Steve is relentless in his commitment to helping governments improve decision making, and pursues better organization, management, and use of data as critical to that endeavor.

Steve holds a doctorate in Computational Biochemistry from Stanford, as well as undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Caltech, and has authored a number of publications.  When not supporting improved analytics in government and financial services, he is coaching youth soccer, leading children’s ministry at church, or building something in his workshop.

With experience in banking operations, risk & compliance and technology, Manisha have advised a broad range of Tier 1 and 2 financial services organizations in Asia Pacific regions, on their journeys to drive value from analytics and machine learning, mitigate risk and embed compliance technologies.

In addition, she is a published author on predictive analytics & financial crime topics with IEEE & ACAMS. Prior to joining SAS, I led the transformation program for establishing a Global Centre of Excellence and Digitalizing operational risk & controls assurance using Analytics for a Retail Bank safeguarding 30+ markets from enterprise risks including financial crime, fraud, information security, privacy.

Manisha is a technologist at heart with a passion of deeply understanding business problems and bringing together people, processes, and technology to drive business solutions. She holds a Masters degree in Machine Learning & Computer Vision and a CAMS-Audit certification.

Alex Kwiatkowski is an Advisory Industry Consultant in SAS’s Global Banking Practice. His role centers on articulating and amplifying company strategy and point of view to senior financial executives, partners, analysts, and influencers, along with creating relevant narratives and supporting content for thought-leadership purposes. Alex accomplishes this by continuously analyzing the evolution of banking across the world to identify where advanced analytics and artificial intelligence can deliver the biggest benefits. He also leads the Financial Services team day-to-day within Global Industry Marketing.

Alex holds a BA in Contemporary East European Studies from UCL.
